Understanding Our Conditions

Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) and Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP) are both autoimmune disorders that damage the peripheral nerves, but GBS is typically acute and typically has a rapid onset, with symptoms appearing quickly over a period of days or weeks, whereas CIDP is chronic and has a slower, more gradual onset than GBS, with symptoms developing over several weeks or months.
